Blowfly is the X-rated castrate ego of Clarence Reid, a songwriter/producer wHO had quite a point of success under his own appoint in the '70s, authorship and producing hits for Gwen MacRae, KC & the Sunshine Band, Betty Wright, and others piece on the staff at the leading Florida disco music label of the earned prevail average, TK Records. It's as Blowfly that Reid is c. H. Best remembered in certain circles, though. The Redd Foxx of the Southern soulfulness circuit, Blowfly specializes in filthy parodies of stream soul and pop hits; his all over two twelve albums, nearly all of them recorded live in the studio with the ambience of a liquor-fueled all-night party, ar an entertaining intermixture of grease and humour that's neither overly foul to be rum nor also refined to be unsportsmanlike.

Innate in Cochran, GA, on Valentine's Day, 1946, Reid got his moniker in the early '60s when his granny caught the adolescent telling dirty lyrics to a popular hit and announced that her grandchild was "nastier than a blow fly." Reid touched to the more dirty-word-friendly climes of Miami in the mid-'60s and hooked up with producer and label owner Henry Stone. Under his have mention, Reid released several satisfying albums of straight R&B, and had several graph singles, starting with 1969's Top Ten soul strike "Cipher only You Babe," for Stone's Alston and TK imprints.

Thomas Reid never lost his knack for filthying up Top 40 hits, though, and after a few age of acting his parodies for friends and co-workers, Reid resurrected his puerile nickname and went in the studio after hours with some studio musician buddies in 1970 and recorded Blowfly's debut album, The Weird World of Blowfly. Of course, Stone's labels couldn't touch the results, so Reid pressed the album on his have Weird World imprint, caparison it in a bizarre homemade-looking sleeve featuring Reid standing on a trash can in a comically hideous monster mask, a couple of homemade wings, a grim sweater with "BF" printed on it in yellow-bellied and a geminate of tighty-whiteys and knee socks, keeping a condom volaille in one hand and clawing at 2 large-Afro'ed nude person women kneel before him. A unearthly world indeed.

Sold on the same semi-underground circuit that traded in Rudy Ray Moore's Dolemite albums and former cultural oddities, the Blowfly records were massively popular. Although it was an open hidden from the beginning that Blowfly was Clarence Reid, Reid always appeared in some sort of elaborate and/or strange costume on the record sleeves. His reticence to be publicly identified as Blowfly stemmed not only from his religious upbringing--despite his dirty mouth, Reid is a dear Christian world Health Organization forswears spirits and cigarettes and has worked as a minister--but from the deplorable prosecution that Reid's latter-day buddies 2 Live Crew establish out about the hard manner. Stores possess been prosecuted for carrying Blowfly albums in some communities, and Reid was sued by the then-president of ASCAP, Stanley Adams, after Blowfly parodied Adams' malarky monetary standard "What a Difference a Day Makes" as "What a Difference a Lay Makes."

Reid released Blowfly records under a variety of pronounce name calling through the '70s, '80s, and '90s, collaborating with like-minded common people like 2 Live Crew and even Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Blowfly is enough of a cultural icon that he even recorded his have holiday single in the mid-'70s. Of course, the songs were called "Doggerel verse Fuckin' Bells" and "Peril for the New Year," but this is Blowfly we're talk around here, not Bing Crosby. Blowfly as well starred in the low-budget objective The Twisted World of Blowfly in 1991, and several of his albums were reissued on CD through the '90s, capped by The Best of Blowfly: Analthology in 1996.

Dinosaurs invade Los Angeles Museum

Is there anything more eyeball-catching than topless supermodels sunbathing on pleasure trade? Well, yes when that something is a baby Tyrannosaurus Rex freely roaming the halls of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.

Without any hoopla, the museum launched a new attractive feature in June called Dinosaur Encounters, in which actor-puppeteers don vivid T-Rex or Triceratops suits and expend 20 minutes demonstrating how scientists believe baby dinos behaved. Usually they figure out with interpreter-handlers, but sometimes they just roam free and encounter their public. Which is how a museum-goers video recording of a grunting, mazed, 7-foot-tall and 14-foot-long T-Rex inspecting babes-in-arms and other humans at close range came to be posted on MySpacetv on Thursday. Real Live Dinosaur climbed to Number One on MySpaces day-after-day video chart, attracting more than 215,000 viewers by early evening, and far outstripping Cindy and Heidi Bare It All. That clipping from TMZ featured stills of Ms. Crawford and Ms. Klum yachting au natural, their modesty preserved by strategically-placed black parallel bars.

Gothenburg, Sweden-based death metal rig Dissection were formed in 1989 by singer/guitarist Jon Nödtveidt and bassist Peter Palmdahl; with the addition of drummer Ole Öhman the following spring, the group recorded its first-class honours degree demonstration, The Grief Prophecy. Following the 1991 Corpsegrinder unmarried "Into Infinite Obscurity," Dissection recorded a indorsement demonstration named The Somberlain, which resulted in a narrow with No Fashion Records and their first album (too highborn The Somberlain, but also featuring second guitar player John Zwetsloot) in late 1993. Johan Norman replaced Zwetsloot for the follow-up, 1995's Storm of the Light's Bane, but and then, in July of 1997, Nödtveidt and a friend were charged with the cruel remove of an Algerian homo. Both were convicted and Nödtveidt standard an eight-year sentence, delivery well-nigh the terminal of Dissection.

Öhman formed a new group called Reaper, and the release of a rarities aggregation, The Past is Alive, in 1998 felt like the band's last rites. But the ensuing tenacious silence was eventually broken by 2003's Live Legacy loge set, and Nödtveidt's release a year later allowed him to finally revive the Dissection nominate, starting with the two-song Omaha Kali EP (role of which was recorded spell he was static in slammer). A potential drop collaborationism with previous Emperor drummer Bard Faust didn't put to work out, only by tardy 2005, Nödtveidt had assembled a new Dissection lineup out of guitarist Set Teitan (see besides Aborym), bassist Brice Leclercq (of Nightrage), and drummer Tomas Asklund (ex-Dark Funeral). This quaternity recorded Dissection's well-received third studio album, Reinkaos, which was issued in May 2006 by The End Records, and seemed to reassert the band's victorious renascence -- afterwards documented on the competently named Rebirth of Dissection together DVD.

However, Dissection's summer spell plans were short cut short, and it was announced that the band would split up following a terminal strand of U.S. dates, which were later canceled due to difficulties obtaining an ledger entry visa because of his felonious record. And then, fifty-fifty spell fans were static approach to grips with their disappointment, newsworthiness began spread crosswise the Internet that the 31-year-old Nödtveidt had committed felo-de-se with a gunfire to the head, encircled by candles in his Stockholm, Sweden, flat, sometime close to August 16, 2006. Shortly in front the felo-de-se, Nödtveidt is aforementioned to have sent farewell letters to his founder and several friends and acquaintances -- i of which reportedly record, "I'm release away for a long, long sentence. I'm sledding to Transylvania."
